GNOME OF THE LOST FLAME
Dark Forest Gnome — Dead Fairy Collection
Deep within the Dark Forest, beneath twisted roots and ancient trees, there are places where even the Acolytes dare not wander.
This is where the Gnome of the Lost Flame makes his home.
Long before the Lantern Blight, the gnomes of the Dark Forest lived quietly among the mushrooms and roots, guarding forgotten paths and the hidden places where the world of the forest touched the realm of the fairies.
Then came the Acolytes.
Their forbidden ritual tore through the Dark Forest, corrupting its magic and leaving countless fairy souls scattered, trapped, and lost.
Most creatures fled from the spreading darkness.
The Gnome went looking for the fairies.
He began following the faint traces of their light through the forest, rescuing those he could before the Acolytes could find them. The fairy light he saves is carried within the old lantern at his side, where its warm amber glow protects it from the corruption of the Blight.
But fighting the Acolytes required more than courage.
During one of his first encounters with them, the Gnome claimed the skull of a fallen Acolyte and bound a fragment of the Blight to it.
From that skull now burns an unnatural green flame.
The corrupted fire allows him to sense the Blight, uncover the paths of the Acolytes, and find fairy souls hidden deep within the Dark Forest.
But Blight magic always demands a price.
The longer he carries the skull, the more the corruption reaches into him. His eyes have begun to glow. His beard has faded to the color of grave ash. Even the forest seems to grow differently wherever he remains for too long.
Yet he refuses to abandon the staff.
Because somewhere beyond the twisted trees, there are still fairies waiting to be found.
So the Gnome continues his journey through poisoned mushroom rings, forgotten graves, and paths that disappear beneath his feet.
Those who live within the Dark Forest have learned that when a small amber light appears between the trees, they should stay out of its way.
The Acolytes have learned something else.
Where the amber lantern goes…
the green flame follows.
