The Widow Elara, Severed in Sorrow

"Her beauty fell silent,
her scream eternal.
Severed from life,
bound to sorrow."

Once a noblewoman bound by love, Elara begged the Codex that her vows to Kaelen would hold even beyond death. When Kaelen was cursed into the Forsaken Beast, it was Elara who bore the brunt of his bloodlust. She carried his child beneath the omen of the Blood Moon, a mark upon her line that the Codex had already claimed. On the night of the Blood Eclipse, he tore her from life with fang and claw, her scream cutting the night in two.

But the Codex is never silent. Her scream carried so much grief, so much anguish, that it etched itself into the cycles. Her head, severed and unburied, remained unquiet — her eyes open, her mouth forever in the shape of that final cry. She became The Widow Severed, cursed to weep endlessly for the man she had loved and lost, and the child who never drew a living breath.

Her scream is said to echo still, a dirge carried on the wind when the moon bleeds. Those who hear it are marked for sorrow, for the Codex always collects its price.
